2k Clear Coat Over Rustoleum Enamel

Just stick with the normal gloss protective enamal and crystal clear enamal.

2k clear coat over rustoleum enamel. Would be interesting if someone would try it and see how it works. I used rustoleum clear coat over metalspecks which i discovered earlier the hard way that it s a laquer based paint and it worked fine. I put a 2k clear from spray max over my 3 96 can of rustoleum and it turned out amazing. I ve had this happen with the rustoleum 2x stuff.

7400 system dtm 450 voc alkyd enamel rust oleum s original rust preventative direct to metal dtm coating. I think the clear coat must be more laquer based and spraying. Clear coat over rustoleum ppg makes a fleet enamel about 65 a gallon w reducer. More coats can be applied any time.

7 months of sitting in the sun rain and dirt looks like the day i shot it. Dries quicker than enamel and is easier to rub out and compound in the long run. In fact i shot it over the old paint and rattle can primer spots without issue. Auto body paint is easy to apply dries fast and can be buffed to a brilliant finish after the clear coat has been applied.

Provides protection from rust and corrosion. Mix the last coat 50 50 paint and urethane then one or 2 coats of straight urethane. I am not an authority on paint and i would never claim to be but i shot a 2 part urethane clear coat over rustoleum enamel on the roof of my 49 without issue. Best part is it will be long lasting durable paint.

Clearcoat over some types of high. I have heard that you can use hardware store urethane for clear coat with rustoleum. I am using high performance rustoleum black glossy paint and krylon acrylic. Don t be like me though and use a single part clear coat gasoline dissolves it.

Much better product for spraying rustoleum is a fine product but not for spraying so much enamel is a single stage type paint pre clearcoat so why clear it. Do not take this as a recommendation it is strictly something i heard about and do not guarantee it. For the dash i would use krylon and a clear coat over that. Use a 2k clear.
